The quality and design of this jacket are absolutely outstanding.

I shortened the sleeves to suit Melbourne’s climate and wear this jacket to work.

The construction quality is excellent, with the sleeves being perfectly set with no puckering, all of the seams very precisely sewn and jetted pockets exquisitely finished with contrast moleskin jetts. The jacket has real pockets, which arrive with tailor-tacking to hold the shape. (I removed the tailor-tacking as I love having real pockets in a jacket.) A generous amount of thread has been used in the keyhole buttonholes.

The jacket design is superb, with the back vents having contrast moleskin inserts and the collar finished in contrast moleskin. The contrast moleskin elements allow this jacket to tie in nicely with a black skirt, if desired. The subtle teal colour of the shell fabric also means the jacket ties in equally well with other skirt colours, such as grey, navy or teal.

The jacket style is very fitted, which gives it a highly tailored appearance. The centre front closure has a generous overlap so the jacket does not gape at the closure, and it also has an internal link button to keep the closure secure. The closure forms a unique, sweeping curve which tapers down to the base of the garment. The button placement follows that curve. This jacket has designer cachet!

The wool, herringbone tweed fabric is simply gorgeous – it is very difficult to find a quality, self-patterned fabric like this. Self-covered buttons are used. The quality and weight of the lining are also superb.

This really is a breathtaking garment, in both form and function.

I am now an adoring fan of the Weavers of Ireland and Jack Murphy brands. Jolly well done!

I would have given 5 stars but extremely poor packaging considering the amount I paid. Jacket was heavily creased. So very disappointing… as it was not cheap !!!!!
