Our Mohair scarves are made by Foxford Mills, creators of the finest wool throws and blankets for more than 130 years. The Foxford Mill is located on the banks of the River Moy in rural County Mayo, Ireland, and is a core part of the local community. More than seventy people in the local area are employed at the mill and shops, and the high-quality wools used in Foxford designs are selected from across the world, including exquisite mohair and cashmere, and Merino and lambswool from Australia and New Zealand.
Mohair is a highly prized wool that is harvested from Angora goats, and is a sumptuous choice for sweaters, hats and scarves. It has long, smooth fibres that are usually blended with more durable wools to create soft and silky materials that simply ooze sophistication and style. It is a light and wrinkle-resistant fabric that is more hard-wearing than cashmere but retains the unique softness of the curly fibres, which come from the first shearing of Angora goats.
