Meet Avoca

Weavers of Ireland - Avoca Handweavers, Weaving Ireland

Avoca Handweavers is one of the oldest Mills in Ireland, established in 1723 when Donald Pratt, a solicitor engaged to handle the sale of the mill which then faced closure, decided to buy it himself.

Along with his wife, Hilary, a teacher, he set about getting Avoca Handweavers back on its feet. The Pratts began exporting handwoven rugs and throws to the UK and other countries. To this day they hand weave at the original Mill in the picturesque Village of Avoca at the Meeting of the Waters in County Wicklow.

Meet Foxford Woollen Mills

Foxford Woolen Mills - Irish Weavers

Foxford Woolen Mills is also one of the last working mills in Ireland, representing hundreds of years of skill, dedication and commitment and a passion for craftsmanship that will never fade.

A quintessentially Irish brand, Foxford was founded by an Irish Sister of Charity in 1892 in the village of Foxford, County Mayo, on the River Moy. After a turbulent history which saw the closure of the Mill in 1908, they overcame a number of struggles throughout the decades to become one of the country's most popular success stories with their passion for craft at the heart of everything they do.
