Spring has Sprung at Weavers of Ireland

Posted by Weavers of Ireland on 3rd Apr 2017

Morning sun shining through our windows, the sprouting of daffodils everywhere and that long awaited stretch in the evenings; these are just some of things that herald the arrival of Spring and we're so excited as with every new season, also means new arrivals to our store.

We've been busy gathering our top picks for Spring to get you inspired for the season ahead. We hope you enjoy.

Floral Lambswool Collar

We couldn't think of anything that could sum up our love of the season more than this delicate floral collar handcrafted by Aine Knitwear based in Co. Clare. Growing up along the coast of the Wild Atlantic Way deeply influenced our Master Weaver's inspiration for traditional Irish knitwear with a twist. This gorgeous neck collar is spun from 100% lambswool in a floral motif which is finished with a hand covered tweed button in centre. This beauty also comes in a range of brighter colours for the season.

Cosmos Scarf  Abalone

Next up to put a spring in you step is our Cosmos Scarf which is woven from 100% Soft Merino Wool by the Mckernan Woollen Mills, who have been producing scarves since 1985. The colour changes thread by thread to give this beautiful piece a unique rainbow effect. It's woven using a vertical hand warping mill while its fringes at the end are knotted by hand. A true piece of craftsmanship.

Skellig Scarf

This next work of woven art is designed and crafted by Mucros Master Weaver, John Cahill who crafts a range of woven goods from his workshop hidden deep in the Killarney National Park. Inspired by the beauty of the new season as well as the flora and fauna of the nearby Skellig Islands, this scarf is crafted from Mohair and Viscose which give the scarf its distinct texture and vibrancy of colour.

Gypsy Scarf

Next up, we have our Gypsy Scarf in ravishing Raspberry. This seasonal favourite is crafted again by the McKernan Woollen Mills in County Clare and is achieved through the mix of two Italian yarns - one being a Merino/Cashmere blend from Tuscany and the other, a finer Pure Merino Wool from Piedmont. The stunning wrap, with a tuck effect, is the perfect accompaniment for the milder days whilst also offering a depth of warmth to the wearer. It is also available in a variety of other colours including jade green. grey slate and almond beige.

Lambswool Avoca Throw

And last but not least is our Avoca Throw, perfect for all your countryside picnics this season. This throw is made from 100% lambswool and woven by Avoca Master Weavers in Ireland's oldest and most famous mill in Avoca, County Wicklow. This throw is designed in Avoca's signature pattern Circus, (so called because it makes people happy) which brings to life a rainbow of colours with a subtle herringbone weave throughout.
