Men's Driving & Panel Caps

Six or eight fabric panels, stitched together and finished with a button on top, give a driving cap its rounded shape and stiff peak. Ours are made mostly from wool tweed, including genuine Donegal tweed with a flecked finish, in natural blues and greens as well as bolder plaid patterns, the hallmark look of our Men's Driving & Panel Caps.

Built from Panels, Finished with a Button

A driving cap is made from six or eight fabric panels sewn together, with a stiff peak at the front and a button stitched to the crown. This panel construction is what gives it a rounder, fuller shape than a traditional flat cap, even though the two styles are closely related and easy to mistake for one another.

Most designs are made from wool tweed, including genuine Donegal tweed with its characteristic flecked texture, a detail found on nearly every driving cap in the range. Colors draw on the natural blues, browns and greens of the Irish countryside, alongside bolder plaid patterns for those who want their cap to stand out a little more, and most designs are fully lined for extra comfort.

A driving cap works well outdoors for walking or a round of golf, keeping you warm without feeling bulky. For a more formal look, it pairs naturally with a suit or with one of our waistcoats and a shirt, giving an outfit a bit more character without much effort, whichever style you choose from our Men's Driving & Panel Caps.
